“We want to commercialize our gold at a fair price and to get the Fairmined premium to help the community”: Agustín Pachari, mining project director

EFFORTS TO FORMALIZE

The Cruz Pata Chaquiminas mining organization is located 1.5 kilometers away from the district of Ananea at 4,610 meters above sea level. The snow-capped mountain of Ananea in the Andes Mountains is the main landscape welcoming all visitors.

Small-scale mining and camelid farming coexist in this area, in addition to the several farming communities such as Limata, Trapiche, Cajón Huyo, Poquera, Chuquine, Belen, and Ananea.

In the past, gold had been illegally extracted in this area. However, after the regulation adopted by the Peruvian government, Mr. Agustín Pachari acquired the title for the Cruz Pata Chaquiminas concession in 2006, starting the journey towards formalization.
