The Fairmined Standard seeks to generate positive impact in artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) communities, connecting them with fair markets.
WHAT IS THE OBJECTIVE?
The objective of the Fairmined Standard 3.0 is to continue to strengthen the organizational, economic, social, labor and environmental development of artisanal and small-scale mining organizations, and to promote responsible gold to be proud of.
WHY?
Because we are committed to the transformation of the ASM sector, to improve miners’ lives, empower communities, work for their human rights and gender equality, and preserve the environment.

Timeline of activities
To offer a transparent, participative, and productive consultation we will follow the activity timeline below, which we estimate will take about a year.
PRE-CONSULTATION
During the last 5 years, we have carried out activities to collect feedback to create the third version of the Standard:
- Workshops with supply chain actors and experts
- Audits
- Improvement plans for certified mining organizations
These are some of the activities we have carried out with the actors in the supply chain:
EXPERT COMMITTEE
The Fairmined standard committee is composed of experts from the artisanal and small-scale mining sector of gold and other associated metals, as well as responsible supply chains.
The committee is in charge of reviewing and updating the standard, based on its experience and the opinions of different actors.
