THE FAIRMINED VIRTUAL EDIT: a love story about duality

THE FAIRMINED VIRTUAL EDIT: a love story about duality

By: Laura Galvis –  Market Development Officer at Fairmined
Our first Virtual Edit of the year is here to highlight the month that represents love. This feeling is the greatest excuse for jewelry, in so many ways, with so many symbols and carrying so much emotional value. Perspective, personal connection, and the story behind are what differentiates in our eyes, a piece of jewelry. It adds inculcated value that can last for generations and tell stories that become the greatest tales.

For this edition, I’ve chosen the concept behind the “toi et moi” ring, which translates in French to “you and me”. This style of ring has become widely popular in engagement rings lately, it is characterized by carrying two different stones that can represent lovers, togetherness, but also individuality.

My selection of “toi et moi” rings seeks to represent the duality of love in many shapes and forms. Here is our playful edit of the two-stone style with a beautiful story of origin, all created in Fairmined certified gold:

Thesis Gems: Thesis Colombian Emerald and Conch Pearl Bridge Ring

The Colombian Emerald and Conch Pearl ring is part of a set of three one-of-a-kind bridge rings, each with two unique gemstones. This ring has a clear and bright green Colombian emerald cabochon and a rare queen conch pearl cabochon, each in a bezel setting. The ring is made of 18k and 22k Fairmined gold by Thesis’ master goldsmith, and it is a sensual and balanced composition where the two separated stones are the protagonists.

Thesis Gems was founded by practicing pediatrician and jewelry designer Cate Claus in California, with the purpose of providing a source of precious jewelry that can be loved without reservation and creates a more resilient future for our planet. Most of her pieces are made using Fairmined gold and responsibly sourced gemstones, in addition, she continuously collaborates with other designers.

Sapphire Ethical Symbol collection – Majoral

18k gold ring with Wennick-Lefèvre sapphire 0,58ct

Majoral: Collection Sapphire Ethical Symbol Gold Ring with Wennick-Lefèvre Saphires

The two-sapphire-ring is part of Majoral’s Collection Sapphire Ethical symbol, created in gold and natural color certified Wennick-Lefèvre sapphires, this piece tells a story about love, nature, and solidarity. The stones are lightly set in 18k yellow Fairmined gold, shaped in soft curves that hold the natural sapphires and sit comfortably over the skin. The two-stone ring has a combined carat weight of 0.58ct and is available in two different gemstone natural colors extracted from small-scale mines: blue or orange sapphires.

The source of inspiration and the backbone of Majoral’s creative imagination is the strong link with nature which has led Founder Enric Majoral, his son fellow jewelry designer Roc Majoral, and his team, to become aware of their responsibility to the environment by sourcing and distributing Fairmined metals since 2014. The brand is based in Formentera and Barcelona, Spain.

Greenwich St. Jewelers: Spinel Bequia Toi et Moi Ring

The Bequia Ring features two one-of-a-kind pear-shaped spinels: one 0.95ct in color purple and a 0.81ct in pink, both ethically sourced from Vietnam, and prong set in Fairmined 14k yellow gold. Inspired by the luscious florals from the “Big Little Island” of Bequia, this ring has an organic, feminine, and delicate feel, with the two stones paired in perfect harmony and symmetry.

This piece is part of a collection of unique 12 two-stone rings called Toi et Moi, Greenwich St Jewelers’ first collection using Fairmined gold for Chroma by G.St, a line characterized by its intense and startling colors. Greenwich is a women-owned, BIPOC-led business led by sisters Christina and Jennifer Gambale in New York City.

Gold of nine Brio Ring – Ethical Jewels by Belloni

Ethical Jewels: Gold of Nine “Brio” Ring

The Gold of Nine “Brio” ring is delicate and uses a thin gold band and bezel setting that allows light to be captured by the crisp yet earthy colorful stones: two faceted crystals of different sizes, ethically sourced citrine quartz, and amethyst, paired together. A unique piece handmade in 9k yellow Fairmined gold, a different selection in material for the brand, that allowed them to unleash their creativity and offer elegance and modernity in a fine jewelry piece at a more affordable price.

Ethical Jewels by Gioielleria Belloni is based in Milan and aims to create precious objects that respect nature, the environment, and the dignity of people. This family-owned business, which is now run by its second generation, became the first Italian brand to ever offer jewels in Fairmined gold and silver and distribute the certified metals over 10 years ago.

Avery Lee design: Dual Tone Tourmaline Ring 14k

The Dual Tone ring is a versatile and everyday take on the “toi et moi” ring, because it can be many rings at once: has the profile of a signet and the lightness of a band but still allowing the two stones to be the main characters in this jewelry piece. A ring from the Rhea Collection, which celebrates the flow and fruitfulness of the Earth and both the minerals and precious metals that come from it. Inspired by the Greek Goddess of fertility and strength, Rhea represents abundance and ease. The ring is made of 14k Fairmined gold and baguette-cut tourmaline ethically sourced from Nigeria in two different shades of green.

The Rhea Collection is Avery Lee‘s debut collection in Fairmined gold and a commitment to using 100% Fairmined Gold. Avery is based in Colorado, where she creates contemporary jewelry that celebrates Earth’s elements and the natural landscapes of the West.
