Mercurius Jewelry ®

The Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM) launched The Fairmined 100 Challenge in the fourth quarter of 2021 and added new brands participating with their beautiful creations made with Fairmined gold from responsible certified small-scale mining communities.

These remarkable brands are aligning with the growing trend in jewelry consumers who care more about sustainability, the origin of materials, gender equality, and fair conditions for workers and miners.

Etreintes Collection, Chapter III by JEM – Participant of the Fairmined 100 challenge

In October 2021, the Fairmined initiative by ARM made a call to the jewelry and numismatic industries with The Fairmined 100 Challenge, aiming to achieve the creation of 100 collections made with gold from certified small-scale mining communities before August 31st, 2022.

Many allies have joined us in this effort; industry leaders such as the  Jewellery Council (RJC) have endorsed the challenge, and media publications such as the National Jeweler in the U.S and Diario Joya in Spain, have helped spread the word. Also, the Fairmined authorized supplier Alloy has offered special discounts to participants.

We are grateful and inspired by the jewelry brands that took on the challenge in 2021 with their breathtaking collections: Tabayer, Rachel Jackson, Alex Monroe, My Cham, Bytomski Bytomska, Carole Chiotasso, Mercurius Jewelry, Armoise Jewelry, Saskia Shutt Designs, JEM, Fucine Romane, Lakdawala and Futura.

An Alliance for responsible mining's invitation

Even though the effects of the pandemic affected both the artisanal and small-scale mining sector and the gold industry, we remain optimistic about 2022 and that many more brands will join in to support the Fairmined certified mining communities by incorporating Fairmined gold in their beautiful collections. 50+ brands from Europe, the U.S, and Latin America have expressed their interest in participating this year.

At the end of the challenge, the Alliance for Responsible Mining will highlight all 100 collections in a digital catalog, share the stories of some of the participants and assemble a panel of judges for honorific recognition.

We extend this challenging invitation to every brand in the jewelry and numismatic industries to join the Fairmined initiative, participate in the challenge and support the transformation of artisanal and small-scale mining into a force for good.
