Comments and recommendations will be received and discussed by the Board of the Standard.
This year, the Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM) begun revising the Fairmined Standard, published in April of 2014. We are currently at the pre-consultation stage to lay the ground for a participative, productive and transparent consultation. See all the steps of the consultation process here.
To learn about the principles that will guide the creation of the new version of the Standard, see the Terms of Reference here.
With a commitment to the strict compliance criteria of the Standard and as a response to the needs of the sector, ARM will facilitate the process that leads to the third version of the Fairmined Standard. The goal is to continue strengthening the organizational, social, labor and environmental development of artisanal and small-scale mining organizations, and foster a responsible gold that we can all be proud of.
To develop this new version, we are inviting all stakeholders – mining organizations, companies and industry associations, experts, public organizations, civil organizations, and the general public – to share their comments and opinions with ARM. They will be taken into account when constructing the third version of the Standard.
We will soon publish the terms of reference to start renewing the members of the Board of the Standard. If you are interested in being a part of this Committee, please send us your letter of intent to standards@responsiblemines.org
Furthermore, during the year we will publish the draft of the new Standard to officially open the public consultation for the Fairmined Standard 3.0.
The Fairmined Standard, published in 2014, is being revised this year as per the ISEAL standard development recommendations, which state that a standard should be revised at least every five years to ensure its relevance and effectiveness toward the accomplishment of its goals.
