From November 7–17, 2024, Emilie Bliguet Ethical Jewellery Gallery in Barcelona hosted the exhibition Responsible Gems: Jewelers and Students Toward Ethical Jewelry. This event gathers professional creators and students to highlight the importance of traceable and responsible materials in the jewelry industry.
Organized by ORIGEN – Gold for Future and La Industrial Art School, the exhibition showcases 20 meticulously crafted pieces integrating responsibly sourced gems and metals with a focus on sustainability. Each creation, made with Fairmined-certified materials, reflects a commitment to supply chain transparency and the well-being of mining communities and all stakeholders involved in the production process.
Among the showcased jewelry, ORIGEN collective professionals present rings made with gold and silver, combined with sapphires from Madagascar supplied by Wennick-Lefèvre. Meanwhile, students and professors from La Industrial have worked with Brazilian tourmaline quartz and Peruvian silver, also incorporating reused materials like copper and brass.
Beyond their artistic value, the pieces aim to highlight the ethical alternatives available in an industry historically marked by environmental and social exploitation. This collaboration emphasizes how conscious design can transform production dynamics, creating a positive impact for both people and the planet.
The artists participating in the exhibition include: Adriana Díaz H, Adoro mi oro, Teresa Estapé, Roc Majoral, Recién llovido, Marta Joieria Artística, JUiA jewels, ILFO ecojewels and Emilie Bliguet all used Fairmined gold and silver to craft their creations.
The exhibition is a testament to the potential of responsible artisanal mining, a sector capable of producing high-quality gems while respecting human rights and protecting the environment. For visitors to the gallery, it will be an opportunity to learn about the future of ethical jewellery and admire the talent of those who are building this change.
Fairmined is proud to work alongside initiatives such as this one, which inspire the industry to adopt sustainable and fair practices. The exhibition will be open to the public with free admission, reinforcing the call for jewellery with purpose and shared values.
