The jeweller Ana Khouri has released 4 new rings during the installation A MANIFESTO by ANA KHOURI with FAIRMINED at Frieze Art Fair Los Angeles.
Ana has been working with Fairmined, empowering certified responsible artisanal and small-scale mining initiatives for years by buying their gold. Now, she has released the Manifesto installation in hopes of promoting responsible practices. “I believe the only way to reduce our footprint as jewelers is by working with initiatives such as Fairmined” says Ana.
The Manifesto launch consisted of a public reading by Ana and the release of the 4 new Maia Rings made with Fairmined gold and ethically and responsibly sourced precious gems. Matches Fashion will be the only retail partner to carry the new designs.
“While creating this piece, I’ve thought of the coil as a symbol of connection. The correlation of giving, receiving and recycling”, says Ana.
We are all facing challenges towards working on a more sustainable and ethical way. Incorporating responsible practices as a company and also as human beings is vital. We hope to bring awareness to relevant topics by combining actions with words towards change.
