The first Fairmined gold plated coin is out!

The coin “the Headline” commemorates one of the most important dates of the twentieth century, the Victory in Europe (VE) Day. This day became an important moment in history where every newspaper proudly proclaimed the same message all across Britain: ¡VICTORY, the war in Europe was over at last! To celebrate VE day’s 75th anniversary, the London Mint office offers a limited “free to the nation” edition of this coin.

To make this tribute even more special, the London Mint Office also decided to offer this special edition plated in 24 carat Fairmined gold. What better way to pay tribute to the day that brought peace to Europe? With this exclusive edition, numismatic lovers will have the chance to add the world’s first ever Fairmined gold layered coin to their collection!

This first Fairmined gold plated collectable is the result of a collaboration between Samlerhuset,  D&M Jewellery Finishers and the Alliance for Responsible Mining, to increase the use of responsibly mined gold in the coin sector and raise awareness about the importance of supporting responsible artisanal and small-scale mining.

It is a significant milestone for the Fairmined initiative as this first Fairmined gold plated coin marks the opening of a new service for the gold industry and a new opportunity to contribute to better mining practices, ensure social development and environmental protection in mining communities worldwide.
