Fairmined in Europe: promoting gold to be proud of

Fairmined in Europe: promoting gold to be proud of

We started 2020 by attending various events in Europe to raise awareness about ethical sourcing and promote Fairminedgold from certified, responsible mining communities.

Talking about responsible jewellery. Barcelona, Spain

We were invited to talk about the challenges and opportunities of ethical jewellery and certified gold sourcing, with the group Oh my gold, Francesc Picanyol from de licensed brand Majoral and the city council of Barcelona.

Vicenzaoro. Vicenza, Italy

We attended the leading International Gold and Jewellery Show in Italy to reach out to new brands and promote the Fairmined Initiative. Although sustainability and responsible sourcing is one of the big trends in the jewelry sector, it is not yet very visible at these kind of events. We encourage more brands and manufacturers to commit to responsible practices and promote sustainable luxury, providing their consumers with products to be proud of.

World Money Fair. Berlin, Germany

We were invited to talk at Samlerhuset’s welcome reception at the World Money Fair about the importance of engaging with responsible artisanal and small-scale mining and the achieved impacts of Samlerhuset’s commitment with Fairmined. Additionally, Greg Prosser, CEO of Samlerhuset, publicly announced that they have been able to set up a supply chain for Fairmined gold plated products with the British supplier D&M Jewellery Finishers and committed to increase their commitment with Fairmined certified mining organizations by launching Fairmined plated coins and medals in various European markets.

Fairmined Europe meeting. Munich, Germany

Brands, refiners and manufacturers working with Fairmined met in Munich onthe 13th of February 2020 to receive an update on Fairmined and the Alliance for Responsible Mining’s work, share experiences and exchange knowledge.

It was an inspiring meeting and a collaborative workshop to develop ideas on how to work even closer together to increase the importance  of ethics and sustainability in the gold industry and make Fairmined even more valuable and impactful for territories and markets.

Nanini Jewelry

Ethical Jewels

Inhorgenta. Munich, Germany

We participated the first time in Inhorgenta, the international trade fair for jewelry, watches and gemstones. During the four days of the fair we informed many people about the importance and benefits of Fairmined at our booth in the Sustainability Area.  We also were invited to host a talk about sustainability, responsible gold sourcing, the importance of engaging with responsible artisanal mining and Fairmined – gold to be proud of.

“It was great to talk to you, interesting to hear about how supply chain works, who is involved, how the premiums are distributed and most of all find out more about the small-scale artisan miners providing us with gold to be proud of”: Saskia Shutt, Belgium
