“I wanted to create something special with Fairmined gold and silver with sapphire and ruby from Greenland and the challenge was an incentive. The characteristic of my jewels is the burin engraving, each piece is unique in the workmanship while reproducing the same decoration. I want to carry on the craftsmanship, ancient manufacturing techniques and small-scale jewelery work. Therefore using fairmined metals is an added value.”

The discovery of gem-quality rubies and pink sapphires in a remote region of Greenland presented a truly unique opportunity to introduce a new source of gemstones into the market, with environmental, mining, human rights, labor, and product disclosure best practices taken into account every step of the way. The Greenland Ruby mine at Aappaluttoq [Ah-puh-lu-tok] is located in a drained waterway amidst an icy mountainous landscape surrounded by majestic fjords. We take seriously our commitment to preserving this pristine location. When we finish our work here, the waterway will be refilled, all equipment and buildings will be removed, and the site will be fully restored to its natural wilderness.
