ABOUT THE CHALLENGE
“I’ve been working with Fairmined since 2012 and before the first standards for gold was launched, I worked with gold from Oro Verde, Colombia. After being introduced to the gold from Oro Verde, I understood, why I had chosen jewellery making as my proffession. Today I work almost solely with Fairmined Ecological gold or gold from Colombia. It’s been a natural choice for me and I love to tell my clients of the difference it makes to the miners to choose Fairmined gold and silver. I therefore also found it a wonderful opportunity to make a new collection for the Fairmined 100 Challenge. Just like the new source of inspiration that flowed inside me, when I started working with Oro Verde, the present collection flowed from creating the gold ring as the center piece of the collection. That ring became the mother ring with the small pendant rings being made from her. These small pendant rings are also used as locks for the bracelet and the necklace, and as such the pieces of the collection can be mixed and used in different ways. I’ve always found it charming to make collection pieces, that can play together like that, giving my clients severals options for the way they use their jewellery.”

FREJA
Anna Moltke-Huitfeldt
In Scandinavian Mythology, Freja is the goddess of love and war, beauty, fertility, sex… and gold.
The pieces of the collection are inspired by a mix of the twirl of viking ornaments and the simplicity of modern, Scandinavian design.
The center piece of the collection is a gold ring. From that ring the small pendant rings were made. The pendant rings are also used as a lock for the bracelet and the necklace. The original ring may also be used for that.
The solid gold pieces are made of 18 k Fairmined Ecological gold from Oro Puno, Peru.
The chain is 18 k Fairmined gold from Iquira, Colombia.
The silver rings are 925 Fairmined silver from Iquira, Colombia.
(Thus silver and gold for the entire collection are mined withouth chemicals).
The diamonds in the bracelet are an 0.03 ct white brillant and an 0.03 ct champagne (C6/7) brillant, traceable from Argyle, Australia sourced through Inspira Diamonds.
